Patriots Equal Best Winning Streak Since Tom Brady Era with Triumph Over Jets
Rookie Henderson has tallied five TDs this season
New England matched their best victory streak since the Brady period as they beat division rivals the New York Jets by 13 points in professional football
Rookie Henderson led the way with three touchdowns as the New England squad secured an eighth consecutive victory for the first time since star signal-caller Brady's closing campaign with the team in 2019
Signal-caller Maye passed for 281 yards and a TD, completing 25 of 34 passes
The win extends the New England's lead at the top of the AFC East as they advanced to nine wins and two defeats, with the New York bottom after falling to a 2-8 mark
The visitors had scored first at Foxborough with quarterback Fields rushing for a short rushing score to finish the Jets' first possession
But the New England fought back in the second quarter as the rookie ran in two seven-yard TDs before the running back grabbed a reception from Drake Maye at the rear of the end zone midway through the third quarter to extend the lead to 21-7
"It was a big time for him stepping up, and it's been fantastic for him to keep gaining experience," the quarterback commented on Henderson. "He desires to be great."
Fields found Metchie toward the end of the third period to reduce the lead for the visitors but Borregales converted a pair of field goals in the fourth quarter as the home side closed out the victory
