Hired after the abrupt departure of the previous manager, Nuno explained that longstanding staff have been educating him about life at West Ham. “That’s what I’m working to grasp every day,” Nuno commented. “It’s more than learning—we have to feel it. Patience is required to feel it. When it becomes part of us, it’s vital to embed it within.”
He highlighted that feeling is what counts, not just intellectual understanding. On the topic of playing identity, Nuno admitted they are a long way off from making it a reality. “It’s not enough the ‘West Ham way’—we have to develop it, let’s live it.”
