England Recall Bukayo Saka While Bellingham, Foden & Grealish Are Left Out

Bukayo Saka in action

Bukayo Saka has recorded a dozen goals in 44 caps for England.

The national side have recalled the Arsenal winger for upcoming games against Latvia and Wales, however no room for Bellingham, Foden or Grealish.

Arsenal forward Saka was absent from last month's qualifier wins against Andorra and Serbia with a muscle problem.

Saka recently returned for his club and found the net in their 2-0 win against the Greek side on Wednesday.

The England international comes in for club colleague Madueke, who is sidelined till next month with a knee injury.

The Three Lions meet the Welsh in a warm-up match at Wembley this week prior to a qualifying match in Riga on 14 October.

Should England triumph against Latvia, they will require a just two more points from their final two matches against Serbia and Albania in the next month to qualify for next summer's tournament in Canada, Mexico and the United States.

Leverkusen's Quansah comes in for Newcastle's Tino Livramento, who is out for up to eight weeks following suffering a knee injury versus the Gunners recently.

Elliot Anderson and Djed Spence, who earned their maiden national team selections last month, keep their spots. Ruben Loftus-Cheek also keeps his spot, even with the recovery of Wharton.

The attacker has only played a single match for the manager since he became England manager, due to injury concerns.

Bellingham missed the last England international camp as he was rehabilitating after shoulder surgery and has only made a single start for Real Madrid after coming back to fitness.

Foden was left out from the coach’s last England squad after a loss of form and has been unable to force his way back, despite a strong start to the season with City.

The forward also is excluded despite a revival in form with Everton. He has not played for England since October 2024.

'Attention turns to excluded players'

Thomas Tuchel's latest England squad brings scrutiny on those the boss has left out instead of the players he has selected.

Bellingham’s omission may cause surprise but Tuchel understandably feels there is no need to bring back the Madrid midfielder.

Manchester City's Phil Foden and on-loan Everton forward Jack Grealish have both performed well in the early stages of the campaign.

Those who the manager used in England's qualifying victories against Serbia and Andorra merit the reward of continuity.

There will be regret that the Gunners’ Noni Madueke is not involved because of injury.

The Forest player has looked right at home at international level.

Tuchel is a fan of Grealish, especially, as well as the City star.

If there is one surprise, it comes in the exclusion of Palace’s Adam Wharton.

The star, of course, will be required in the future.
